A CLASSIC live performance from a band that was made up of members of Yes, but wasn’t Yes.
Having released their eponymously titled CD, Jon, Bill, Rick and Steve went out on tour to packed houses everywhere.
This DVD captures one of the shows in all it’s glory.
Prevented from using the Yes name, ABWH showed here that they were the better outfit for performing the timeless music, and with Jon Anderson at the helm, they were able to continue creating the music that Yes fans wanted.
The concert opens with solo pieces from the four musicians; with Bill Bruford performing his solo bit during the legendary Yes number ‘Long Distance Runaround’.
Old and new tracks mingle seamlessly throughout the show – which lasts for almost two and a half hours.
All the Yes numbers (apart from a snippet of ‘Owner Of a Lonely Heart’ during Jon’s solo spot), come from the albums that began the legend – ‘Time And A Word’, ‘The Yes Album’, ‘Fragile’ and ‘Close To The Edge’.
Interspersed with those are six of the nine songs from the ABWH album, so it really is the best of both worlds.
Surprisingly for a live show recorded twenty years ago, the sound and vision quality is outstanding.
The traditional show-stoppers of ‘Roundabout’ and ‘Long Distance Runaround’ (still part of Yes’s live set today) close the show.
Superb musicianship from all involved, and a live DVD that is a must for any serious rock collection.
