BOLTON Intermediate team failed to complete the double over Bury in a one-sided defeat.
Bolton went into the game in confident mood after beating their local rivals by an innings when the teams met in the first round of interleague games.
But Bury gained revenge when they put the record straight with an innings victory at Elton Vale Sports Club.
With four enforced changes to their side, Bolton could only get one Bury batter out in the first round.
The remaining batters scored ones, except for Natalie Simms who scored three and Haley Nelson who hit two.
Bury’s steady performance continued in the third round when Natalie Simms hit the first of her two rounders on her way to top scoring with 24.
Catherine O’Reilly, with one rounder, scored 20 as the home team powered to a total of 82.
Bolton’s top scorer, Rachel Crilly, opened with a three, but four batters were out at the first attempt, two at first base and two hit out.
This set the pattern for the rest of the game and the Bolton team were all out for just 32 runs and forced to follow on.
Bolton again lost four batters on the first round of the second innings. Amy Leonard failed to score but she made up for it by top scoring with 12, finishing with a rounder.
That did not save the visitors, however, as they lost 82(I)-76.
The senior sides meet at Elton Vale on Friday when the Bolton team will be looking to avenge their home defeat earlier in the season.
In the league, four teams remain unbeaten and five are still looking for a point. Trafford EHS were having a good season in Section D, but have lost their last three games, the most recent to Chorley Ladies by an innings and 345 to 106.
Chorley’s top scorer scored 108, two more than their opponents’ total.
Only five Chorley batters hit double figures, but the three most stubborn scored more than 60.
The Section H title ambitions of Pineapple Chunks took a knock when they surrendered a nine-run first-innings lead against Pure Asphalt XI and lost by one run.
In Section J, Farnworth CC were 20 ahead, but Aura Ladies fought back to win by three.
In Section K, Craven Heifers defended a 13-run lead to beat Bolton Rugby Club Ladies by three, and in Section L, Occasions beat Shop Direct by just one after trailing 49-89 at the interval.
