BOLTON’S Intermediate Inter League team completely outclassed Bury as they raced to an innings defeat over Bury by 105-102 at Darcy Lever.
The third of the inter league games turned out to be the total opposite of the Junior’s game the previous week, in that it was faster and the players from both sides played a much riskier game altogether.
In the first innings Bury quickly dismissed three players and two more soon followed, but the remaining six players managed to stay in rather longer, to finish with a respectable innings score of 105.
Top scorer with 17 was Lucy Chadwick.
In almost a repeat of the Bolton innings, four Bury players were dismissed early on, scoring just seven between them.
The excellent fielding, particularly the catching skills of Bolton, saw the remaining players soon dismissed, with a top score of just 10 from Hayley Nelson which took Bury to an innings total of 55.
Bury had to follow on and once again, excellent catching saw them all out for just 47.
This innings saw Emma Howard top the scores on 13. That took Bury to a match total of 102, which left them three points short of Bolton being forced to bat again.
The next Inter league match (Seniors) will be held at Darcy Lever on Friday, June 25, and not June 18 as in the handbook.
A Junior Inter League practice has been arranged for Saturday, June 19, 11am at Darcy Lever, in preparation for their return match with Bury at Elton Vale Sports Club on July 9.
Further dates to be arranged.
