IF Peter Wu’s parents had succeeded in guiding him away from the Chinese food industry, he might not have created a successful all-you-can-eat, fixed price restaurant in Bolton.
And he might not have won the coveted Business Person of the Year title at the Bolton and Bury Business Awards.
The delighted businessman said: “It’s one thing to be nominated for the award, but it’s absolutely something else to win it.
“I’m over the moon but I wouldn’t be here today without the hard work and dedication of all my staff.
“Now I can concentrate of building The Chinese Buffet into a national brand and, within the next 18 months, I want to have 18 restaurants all over the North West.”
Operating its all-you-can-eat at a fixed price menu, Mr Wu appears to have the right balance between price and quality of food, judging by the numbers of customers who visit The Chinese Buffet in Bridge Street every week.
Now the enterprising businessman is looking to growing The Chinese Buffet into a North West chain and, ultimately, wants to go national.
Mr Wu, aged 31, who lives in Little Lever, said: “Bolton was our first restaurant and we have a second, bigger one in Wigan, where we also plan to start a food production line so we can have quality control for food, taste and sauces and so on. We are also negotiating to open a third Chinese Buffet.”
Mr Wu will eventually rename The Chinese Buffet as TCB and he plans express versions to compete with the likes of Subway and other fast food places in city centres.
Mr Wu was presented with his award by Debbie Roberts from sponsors KBL Solicitors.
