Results from Bolton North East expected to be declared in 20 minutes

JR: Disappointed Green Party say they expect to lose their £500 deposit in Bolton West.Encouragement they got from electors on the doorstep has not been translated into votes.

JR: Jackie Pearcey, Liberal Democrat candidate in Bolton West said that with Conservatives and Labour pouring resources into fighting the seat they had expected the Lib/Dem vote to be squeezed but it has held up better than expected although they still expect to come third.

Ward turnouts in Bolton North East are: Astley Bridge 69.2%, Bradshaw 72.3%, Breightmet 59.6%, Bromley Cross 74.3%, Crompton 63.4%, Tonge 58.2%, Halliwell 56.1% Ward turnouts in Bolton South East are: Great Lever 58.7%, Bolton 62.2%, Rumworth 57.4%, Farnworth 46.3%, Harper Green 54.4%, Kearsley 56.9%, Little Lever and Darcy Lever 66.2%

Turnout for Bolton South East is 57.3%; in 2005 it was 50%

Turnout in Bolton West wards were: Horwich and Blackrod 66.27%, Heaton and Lostock 75.75%, Horwich North East 69.75%, Westhoughton North and Chew Moor 67.99%, Smithills 67.66%,Westhoughton South 63.90%, Atherton 57.40% DC: Turnout for Bolton West: 66.98%. That's up from 2005 when it was 63.5%.

In the 2005 General Election, the turn out in Bolton North East was 54.8 per cent. This year's is clearly much bigger.

Sean Harriss (returning officer) says he is about to start the count "proper" in Bolton North East. Turn out is 64.97 per cent. A total of 27 percent of the votes cast were by postal ballot.

ST: Bolton South East Liberal Democrat candidate Donal O'Hanlan is realistic about his chances. He said people have told him that if he wins, then Nick Clegg's wife Miriam can start measuring up curtains at Number 10.

JR: Liberal Democrat councillor Barbara Ronson, who has stood as a candidate in Bolton West on three previous occasions said they had benefited from leader Nick Clegg's performance in the televised debates but were struggling to convert goodwill into votes.

AG: Labour leader Cllr Cliff Morris says he feels it has gone well. Thinks there has been a high turn out and that is "good for democracy".

AG: Fellow Labour councillor David Chadwick isn't as sure. He says it is "too close to call".
