It is easy to get bogged down with all the serious stuff during a General Election campaign.
So, at the end of last week, I was delighted to receive a light-hearted gift from PizzaExpress.
The restaurant chain has put together a "portrait of political Britain", which is basically a pizza featuring different toppings each of which represent the most popular political dinnertime conversations.
For instance, the fishy smell surrounding the expenses scandal was represented on the pizza - which was snapped up by the lads in sport - by anchovies.
Other toppings - and the reasons behind them - include mixed vegetables to represent our mixed feelings towards our equally beloved and beleaguered NHS and bacon because due to possible rises in National Insurance Contributions and VAT, people are vocal about bringing a lot less bacon back home.
I tried a quail's egg stuff with caviar (where else is a Burnley lad going to get the chance to try such decadent delicacies?) which was to represent class issues.
It certainly raised a smile in the office here and has to go down as one of the most innovative PR gifts we have ever been sent.
If only the political parties were as creative in their messages, maybe then they would get a greater "slice" of the votes.
