TIME is running out for residents who want to have their say in the forthcoming local and general elections.
The deadline to register on the electoral roll and apply for a postal vote is today at 5pm.
Only people named on the electoral roll will be eligible to vote in the polls.
So far Bolton Council has received 34,000 requests from people wanting a postal vote — 2,000 up on 2008’s local council elections.
Today is also the closing date for candidates wishing to stand in the general election, with the deadline at 4pm.
Candidates have already spent the last few weeks working on their election campaigns, with doorto- door leafleting and meeting constituents in a bid to win their vote.
