THE 2010 Rounders season got off to a great start when the Champion of Champions tournament was played at Walkden Cricket Club on Sunday.
Last season’s league champions, with a couple of minor adjustments, provided the 16 teams which played in four groups and handicaps of five runs per division were applied. Rupert Ladies A won their three games in group one to progress to the semi final, where they met Darcy Lever C&SC D, who just pipped Redbridge Allstars on games difference.
The other semi-final involved Wallys Eleven and American Express and their match turned out to be the closest of the day. With a 10-run start, American Express reached the final by a single run margin 67-66, to face Rupert Ladies A, who beat a valiant Darcy Lever C&SC D team by 30 runs.
Not accustomed to losing, Rupert Ladies made no mistakes and won the final by 39 against American Express, who put up an impressive performance.
