PIGS made a dash to save their bacon after a trailer taking them to an abattoir overturned on the motorway.
Four of the 16 pigs managed to escape after the crash on the M66 near Bury this morning. They were quickly caught by the driver.
The Land Rover towing the trailer crashed, causing it to overturn, north of Junction 1 of the northbound carriageway at 7.30am today.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured but police closed one lane to recover the vehicle.
A police spokesman said a second trailer was taken to the scene of the accident to ferry the animals to the abattoir.
