ANGLERS are reminded to make sure they renew their rod licences or face a fine.
Licences for 2005 to 2006 run out on March 31. Anyone aged 12 or over who wants to fish on rivers in England will need a new licence from April 1.
In 2005, 854 anglers in the North-west were prosecuted for fishing without a licence. A standard full-season coarse fishing licence costs £24. Licences are available from Post Offices.
