BARROW 1, LEIGH RMI 1: RMI salvaged another vital point in their battle to pull clear of the relegation zone.
An uneventful game finally came to life in the second half with two goals in as many minutes and a frenzied period of time added on when Barrow could have grabbed a last-ditch winner.
Chances were at a premium although Barrow keeper Simon Bishop faced an early test when he had to react quickly to clear Steve Settle's header off the line after he had ghosted in unmarked for Andy Roscoe's corner.
Gary Williams raced through a minute later but shot straight at the keeper while Alex Hay headed over the bar.
Barrow had barely troubled RMI's well-organised defence and three points looked to be heading Leigh's way when they went ahead in the 52nd minute as Settle's cross was only headed by defender Chris Butler straight to the feet of Chris Simm and the striker rifled the ball home past a stranded keeper.
Unfortunately it took Barrow only two minutes to equalise when a through-ball caught Leigh napping and a clumsy tackle from Liam Coyne in the area brought down Neil Tarrant and Guy Heffernan blasted the ball home.
In a frantic finale, Barrow could have grabbed a winner but keeper John Lamb made two superb saves before the ball was cleared off the line in a last-minute goalmouth scramble.
