A HAT-TRICK from Euxton Villa striker Bretherton ensured that Blackrod Town returned home pointless.
He scored his first two goals within 12 minutes of the kick off. Poor defending was a major contributor.
Following a 20th minute substitution and a reshuffle of the team, Blackrod stifled Euxton's attacking intent.
Rob Findlow and Lee Powell combined well at the heart of their defence to steady the ship.
Unfortunately, Town created only two opportunities in the entire 90 minutes.
Bretherton's third goal was scored from a superbly struck 25-yard free kick.
The score was a fair reflection of their superiority.
Town Reserves remain top of Division One Reserves after thumping Poulton Town 5-0, Gary Barnes (2), Danny Ashcroft, Sean Schofield and Jimmy Dickson on target.
