KEVIN Nolan has urged Jared Borgetti to sit tight and focus on becoming a goal star with Wanderers.

The unsettled Mexican striker is becoming increasingly frustrated at the Reebok at his lack of first team action, and is being strongly tipped for a move in the transfer window.

Fate dealt him his latest blow at Blackburn on Saturday when, given his first Premiership start, he was taken off after just 36 minutes in a tactical substitution following Hidetoshi Nakata's sending off.

Nevertheless, Nolan believes he still has a lot to offer.

"I was gutted for him and he'll be gutted, but it was for the team and he is a team player," the Wanderers skipper said.

"It was really disappointing for him, though, because he's been absolutely fantastic in training and in the games that he's played and in the games when he has come on.

"He's going to be a big asset for Bolton Wanderers, he's just got to hold on in there."

Borgetti. who joined Wanderers in a £1 million move from Pachuca last summer, has been linked with a return to Mexico with Guadalajara Chivas, but is reported to prefer to stay in Europe, where Benfica and Celtic have been touted as possible destinations.

He wanted European experience in the build up to the World Cup, where Mexico will be one of the eight seeded nations and where, as his country's all-time leading scorer with 35 goals from 69 appearances, he is expected to be one of their major players.

Things have not gone smoothly, however, and, although Sam Allardyce has said he will not consider loaning him out and would only be prepared to sell him if he could sign two players in return, his agent has made it clear he would welcome a move.

"If you don't get minutes, you can't be a success," Borgetti said. "Bolton hasn't seen the real Borgetti and I feel sorry for the fans "I don't have a problem with the boss, I am a professional and I respect Sam Allardyce and I haven't complained since I arrived.

"But what I want most of all is to play games in the run-up to the World Cup.

"It wouldn't be a problem if I went out on loan - I just need minutes."

Nolan, however, believes Borgetti has already shown he has the finishing power - he has scored five goals in cup competitions - to make it big with Wanderers.

"He's done fantastically well for us in the Carling Cup games, the FA Cup game and in Europe," he added, "and it's only a matter of time before he gets his chance with a run of two or three games.

"He wants to learn and he's learning English as quick as he can. He's a fantastic lad to have around."
