JUSSI Jaaskelainen is aiming to end his contract dispute and secure his Reebok future.

The Finland keeper says he is happy with Wanderers and is hoping to extend his current deal that has just one more season to run.

"The ideal situation is that I sign an extension here," he said.

Negotiations appeared to have reached stalemate in December when Whites boss, Sam Allardyce, revealed that Jaaskelainen, who is regarded as one of the best keepers in the Premiership, and his advisers objected to a specific clause in the three-year contract he had been due to sign last summer.

But last month the Wanderers boss said he was confident an agreement could be reached.

Now the Reebok number one - the club's longest serving player - says he wants to stay. Still only 30, he feels he will reach his peak between the ages of 32 and 35 and wants that period of his career to be at the Reebok.

"My family is very happy here," he told Wanderers TV. "We've spent nine years here now and I've been having a great time.

"Hopefully, that can carry on, but you never know what will happen in football.

"I leave all that up to my agent because I just want to focus on doing my best for the team because there are some important games coming up for us."
