ON behalf of the Hayward Residents Association, I would like to respond to the letter written by Mr Daniels (January 11) regarding problems he is facing in his particular area of Great Lever.
Firstly, I would like to draw attention to an article about the area back in November of 2005, which highlighted the wonderful things going on in the area, and also the remarkable work that has been undertaken by the Great Lever Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder, the local police, the Youth Service, various residents associations, and the residents themselves, and indeed is still being done.
Crime rates in the area have dropped significantly. Great Lever has an extremely strong element of community cohesion, and while we believe there is still an awful lot to be done, we are well on our way to achieving our initial goals.
We are concerned that Mr Daniels feels he has got nowhere with the people that he has previously spoken to regarding his issues, and would like this opportunity to offer our assistance to him. If Mr Daniels would like to contact Hayward Residents' Association, we would be happy to work with him in discussions with the relevant authorities.
Although immediate solutions cannot be guaranteed, changes can be made if we all work together.
