A NURSERY yard got a soaking when budding firefighters tackled fire safety.
Children from Crofters Park Nursery, Gaskell Street, Halliwell, were visited by firefighters from Bolton Central Fire Station's Red Watch and one of their fire engines as part of an annual event to teach children about fire safety.
More than 60 three-year-olds from the private day nursery were treated to a day of spraying water while wearing firemen's helmets and then exploring the fire engine.
Nursery manager Karen Jackson, said: "We organise the event annually and it is a great way to teach the children about fire safety and the roles of firefighters in a fun and interesting way.
"They got to wear the firefighters helmets, squirt the hose and sound the siren. Afterwards, the firefighters answered all their questions.
"Now all the children want to be firefighters."
The police, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Smithills Farm also visit the nursery.
