ROBBIE Fowler insists he would have carried on playing somewhere even if the move back to Liverpool had not materialised.
The 30-year-old Kop legend is expected to be in the squad for Wednesday's Premier League match with Birmingham, although boss Rafael Benitez claims the striker is unlikely to start the match.
But whenever it happens, Fowler cannot wait for the moment he can re-kindle his love affair with the club.
Fowler has rejoined on a free transfer from Manchester City, who had told him they would not have offered him a new contract in the summer.
But Fowler said: "Whatever people think, I'm only 30. There's people like Teddy Sheringham who are still playing and almost 40.
"It would have been pointless packing it in if this move hadn't come along. When you are a kid all you want to do is play and I still feel the same."
