OF course there was a dinosaur on view in the Bolton Museum in the 60s. I would take my daughter to see this awesome creature - quite a sight as you stood by it.
I remember its position in the Natural History room - it was placed in a window alcove or space, with its head held high, back to the window, looking towards the centre of the room.
As you viewed it and walked around it you could see from the window the street below, which was then Howell Croft, where the Octagon Theatre is.
At the time it was withdrawn - it was 'said' the dinosaur had gone on loan to another museum or back to the museum that loaned it to Bolton - but it was definitely on view.
We can't all be wrong.
