A MAN who grabbed his girlfriend by the throat and bit her nose has been jailed for 18 months.
Robert Webb, aged 32, assaulted Sarah Jones when she came home at around 4am on September 10, last year, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
Webb, of Sale Lane, Tyldesley, had been drinking and asked where she had been, he punched her, grabbed her by the throat and bit her on the nose.
Miss Claire Jones, prosecuting, said Webb let her go to make himself a drink before dragging her by the feet, squeezing her throat, and threatening to kill her.
The woman managed to lock herself in the bathroom, but he got in and dragged her by the hair into the bedroom where she fell asleep.
Webb pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
Sentencing him, Judge Denis Clark said: "Wives, partners, girlfriends don't have to take this any more; a battering because you have had too much to drink."
