A MAN was stabbed during a row at a house in Great Lever on Friday morning.
The 58-year-old staggered from his home in Greenland Road and knocked on neighbours' doors begging for help.
John Howarth, aged 45, was asleep when he heard the frantic knocks.
e opened the door and was confronted by a man covered in blood with a knife in one hand and a glass bottle in the other.
Mr Howarth said: "He just kept saying he'd been stabbed.
"He was covered in blood dripping from his head - he looked like he was in a bad way.
"I brought him inside, he was in shock. I reassured him the ambulance was on its way, and tried to calm him down.
"He had a knife in one hand and a bottle in the other. I didn't see them at first, but he put them down after I answered the door."
The victim was taken to hospital and treated for slash wounds to his arm and head.
The incident happened at just before 6am.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Ambulance Service said: "We attended Greenland Road at 5.45am today and treated a male for lacerations before he was take to the Royal Bolton Hospital."
A 43-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of attempted murder.
