MOTORISTS in Radcliffe who own 'satellite navigation' routefinders are being urged to search for safer places to store them.
The warning by BurySafe, a community crimefighting partnership including the police and local council, comes after 46 thefts of satellite navigation systems were reported from unattended cars across the borough since October 1 last year.
Chief Superintendent Janette McCormick, divisional commander of Bury Police, said: "I would warn road users who have satellite navigation systems to remove them from sight, if possible, when leaving their cars unattended. I also would recommend that people get these items security marked so that if they are recovered they can be returned to their rightful owners."
'Cash on the Dash' information leaflets have also been distributed to retail outlets offering residents and road users advice as to how to keep their property safe.
