GREATER Manchester Police assistant chief constable Steve Thomas, who will head England's anti-hooligan operations at the World Cup finals in Germany, has vowed to root thugs out of the game.
Mr Thomas was officially announced as the Association of Chief Police Officers' leader on football issues.
He said: "There are many challenges ahead but I am confident that we will be able to assist in the successful running of the tournament."
