ALYSON Byrne, headteacher at the Derby High School said: "We are at this stage disappointed by the outcomes of this review.
"The Derby High has always had a deservedly strong reputation within Bury and over the last few years, the school has gone from strength to strength. In so many ways, we are a model for successful comprehensive education. Our value added is amongst the best in Bury.
"We trust that the final decisions that are reached will be in the best interests of the young people of Bury. Thought must be given in particular, to the issues around social cohesion which have already been raised by both schools concerned and by members of the public at the area board meeting.
"In the meantime, our efforts will continue to be focused on providing the best education and support for the children in our care and we look forward to seeing a further rise in our examination results for this coming summer."
