FOR years the roads of Deane and Daubhill have been an accident waiting to happen.

I drive in towns and cities all over the country but I have never experienced anything like driving on these two roads.

People seem to think that every road is a dual carriageway, no-one understands how the bus lanes work and consequently people are overtaking on the inside of the traffic queues due to impatience when the bus lane is not in operation. Some people think that the hazard lights on a car mean that they can park anywhere. Consequently there are regular bottlenecks of traffic on Derby Street between Sunninghill School and Adelaide Street due to drivers parking on double yellow lines or even double parking with cars parked in the lay-bys.

Where are the traffic wardens when you need them?

Both roads are like a race track with some cars travelling at speeds in excess of 70 mph.

If people continue to drive in such a reckless manner with total disregard for the law then the recent tragedy on Wigan Road will not be the last.

I wonder how long it will be before something is done about it, or how many more people will have to die.
