LEIGH RMI 1 NUNEATON 0 by David Magilton: LEIGH turned the Conference North table on its head when they pulled off a shock win over promotion chasing Nuneaton on Tuesday night.

The three points helped lift the Railwaymen away from the relegation zone, after their vastly improved display rocked a Midlands side, who earlier this month had taken Steve McClaren's Premiership side Middlesbrough to an FA Cup replay.

They had Nuneaton striker Brian Quailey to thank for missing four first-half chances, but after the break it was Leigh who looked the more dangerous.

Free-scoring Scott Willis grabbed the decider in the 57th minute with his fifth strike in six games, when he unleashed a 25 yards rocket-shot into the top corner.

New signing Alex Hay should have made the game safe but twice fired straight at the keeper in one-on-one situations, while Mike Hazeldine and Steve Settle both went close. Goalkeeper John Lamb produced a superb diving safe to ensure RMI's first win after three successive defeats.
