THE bride wore... a Wonder Woman outfit. The groom arrived dressed as Superman.
And even the minister was out of the ordinary. He impersonated Elvis Presley, dressing for the role and bursting into song.
It was a far from traditional wedding ceremony when Louise Smith and Phil Robinson exchanged vows at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas, dressed as superheroes.
"It's something I have always wanted to do," said Louise, aged 35. "I have always loved Wonder Woman and, originally, I wanted Phil to dress as Elvis. But he wanted to be Superman so we agreed to have Elvis marry us instead."
But the couple found they needed super-speed to get to the church on time when well-wishers kept demanding to take pictures of them in their wedding outfits.
Louise said: "People were stopping us and taking photos and then we had to wait for our car to be brought to us, so we were really late."
The couple had hired a black convertible Ford Mustang to get them through the Las Vegas traffic in style but both were relieved to get to the chapel - where the vows were just as off-the-wall as their wedding suits.
Louise said: "The minister asked: 'Will you take this hunk of burning love to be you wife?' and then asked me if would take Superman to be my husband. It was absolutely fantastic and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Elvis was brilliant and he said it was one of the best weddings they have had."
Phil, aged 37, said: "It was just a magical day. I met Louise and she made me feel alive again. We had a fantastic day and we have not laughed that much in a long time."
Friends and family back home got the chance to watch the wedding unfold as the ceremony was filmed live and put on to the Internet.
Kevin Parry, who photographed the wedding and also acted as the couple's witness, said: "Elvis sang 'It's Now or Never' and they danced after they exchanged the rings. It was beautiful comicbook wedding."
The couple, from Atherton, who were married on Saturday, January 14, then enjoyed dinner at the Venetian Hotel and five days of partying in Las Vegas.
They are now planning a celebration on February 24, for all their family and friends.
Their children Ben, Jacob and Ella, aged 13, six and five respectively, are all going to dress in Superman and Wonder Woman outfits, in keeping with the superhero theme.
