PUPILS are being offered an insight into the world of international trading through a new vocational programme launched this week.
The Young International Trader programme is aimed at 14 to 19-year-olds.
The programme, designed by the Institute of Export and supported by HSBC, lasts at least one term and addresses topics such as finance, culture and the changing nature of trade.
It can be taught as a stand-alone project or in conjunction with existing subjects such as business studies, geography, economics and language.
Andy Nemes, chairman of the Institute of Export, said: This programme has been several years in the making, and we are delighted to be at the stage where we can begin to introduce it into schools.
"Young International Trader will take young people into the world of cross-border trading goods and services. It combines an awareness of cultural, linguistic and financial differences, as well as logistics, supply chain management and market determinations."
