ROOFTEC Rangers under 11s have made a 'star' signing to enable them to take part in a end-of-season tournament.
The youngsters, who are currently top of Section B of the Bolton and Bury Junior Football League and play their home matches at Captain's Clough, have teamed up with Mercedes-Benz of Bolton in a special sponsorship tie-up.
As part of the arrangement, Rooftec's players will wear the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star on the sleeve of their shirts and will also receive funding towards their participation in a two-day tournament being held in Southport in May.
Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce is president of the club and he presented the new-look kit to Lee Fox, manager of the under 11s side, at the Reebok Stadium.
Mr Fox said: "There is a cost involved with most aspects of kids' football these days and to take them away for two days is going to be fairly expensive. Wiithout Mercedes-Benz backing, it would have been a struggle to go.
"The lads are delighted to be associated with a brand like Mercedes-Benz.
"And if any of them turn out to be professional footballers, they may end up repaying their support by buying one or two cars off them."
