STALYBRIDGE CELTIC 6, LEIGH RMI 1: RMI are back in the relegation dogfight after being hit for six as Stalybridge took ample revenge for an early season defeat.
If there was any doubt that RMI's mini-revival had ended with defeats against Lancaster and Droylsden in the past 10 days, then those questions were dispelled as they fell apart.
The revenge mission began almost immediately when the home side took the lead within the first nine minutes of the game, but they were pegged back 10 minutes later when RMI midfielder Scott Willis continued his recent run of goals with a 19th minute equaliser his fifth in six games.
Stalybridge went ahead eight minutes before the break before completely outplaying the struggling Railwaymen in the second-half.
"I am not taking anything away from Stalybridge who were the best team, but it could have been different if we had been awarded a clear-cut penalty and Chris Simms goal had not been disallowed," said manager Andy Nelson.
"Unfortunately we had half a dozen players out injured and I only have kids to bring in and it told in the second-half."
