SHIP Ahoy! Children have built lantern boats in preparation for a big sail.
Members of the Waggon Road Play Centre in Breightmet are working with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust to prepare for a special walk at the Seven Acres Country Park at Tonge.
More than 60 children made leaf shaped "light boats" that will hold a lit candle. They will launch the boats in Bradshaw Brook next month as a celebration of the country park and the opening of the new Bolton Lancashire Wildlife Trust headquarters in Bury Road which takes place in August.
James Hall, Seven Acres Country Park project officer, said: "The children have been working really hard on their light boats during two workshops.
"We are really looking forward to dropping the boats into Bradshaw Brook because it will be a great way to celebrate the beginning of a new year for the park."
The walk on Thursday, February 2, will start at the Waggon Road Play Centre and head into the country park. The evening runs from 7pm to 9.30pm. Call James Hall on 01204 361847 for more details or to book a place.
