I have filled in my 'Back the Baby Unit' campaign coupon and sent it back. My children and two grandsons were born at Bolton hospital.
My first son Danny was born almost 24 years ago. He was a healthy bouncing baby boy over 8lb.
My second son was not so lucky. He is one of a set of twins. Tara was 4lbs 6 ozs and Marcus 4lbs 11ozs - a good weight for twins of 34 weeks. But they were born by emergency Caesarean and very poorly.
Both were in special care for a while. Tara was brilliant and soon ready to go home, but Marcus was very poorly with lung and respiratory problems, causing a great deal of worry for my husband and myself.
But the care and surgery he had were a lifesaver. All my children are happy, strong and healthy now, which I hope will give other parents hope. Those doctors and nurses gave the twins life.
