A 21-year-old landscaper admitted that he should not have got involved when his cousin was arrested by police in Radcliffe, a court heard.
Ryan George Wray, of Masefield Avenue, Radcliffe, admitted an offence of disorderly behaviour and also a breach of a conditional discharge. He was given an attendance centre penalty of 24 hours, fined £80 and ordered to pay £43 court costs.
Mrs Marion Nolan, prosecuting, told Bury magistrates that police officers received a report of a disturbance near Byron Avenue in Radcliffe. Two males were clearly intoxicated and showing aggression. Wray repeatedly used foul language, and because of his behaviour, was arrested.
Wray said he was with his cousin when two police vehicles turned round the corner. Officers got out and arrested his cousin. He could not understand their action so he became abusive.
Wray said he could not remember what he said but realised later that his action had been wrong and he should not have got involved.
