I AM angered yet again by another adverse front page heading: Town's Council house Crisis.

Of course, Margaret Thatcher was to blame by giving the tenants the right to buy.

Naturally, the idea is a good one at face value, due to the discount and the comparison between mortgage and rent - which is 'dead money', after all.

I can't blame anyone buying a council house. Many friends of mine have - who could refuse such an offer?

The downside is that 'Right to Buy' has caused a housing shortage, and to get a council house today has become a dream.

When I was a child in the 1950s, it was common to see even married people still living with their parents. My parents took my grandma in, which saved the council finding her a house.

Unfortunately everyone wants their own place in an overcrowded Britain.
