BOLTON cricket has lost one its best-known personalities with the death of Frank Tattersall. He was 77.
Frank was the youngest of the three Tattersall brothers and he, along with Roy and Bernard Tattersall, formed a cricketing dynasty that dominated the Bolton League.
Frank was a talented off-spin bowler who played for Bradshaw, Eagley and Tonge, while he also had a spell as professional for Ribblesdale League side Whalley in the 1960s.
Peter Stafford, president of the Bolton League said: "Frank was a real gentleman and he played the game in a manner in which the game should be played. He will be sadly missed by his family and all those involved in local cricket."
Frank leaves a widow Margaret and two sons, David and Ian, who both played cricket in the Bolton League.
