TRADERS and staff have promised to park further away so shoppers are not deterred from going to Bury Market.
Around 200 parking spaces have been lost with the building of the new JJB sports and leisure complex, which is due to open soon in Spring Street.
Traffic managers point out that there are 114 places on the nearby Trinity Street and Georgiana Street parks, plus 108 on the under-used Cecil Street park. Some traders are setting an example by parking there, and freeing up more spaces nearer the market.
A message board has been erected on the side of the market hall advising motorists of car parking facilities.
