THE Law Society has closed down a Bury company after two solicitors were adjudged to be bankrupt.
Now a Manchester firm has been appointed as agents to handle the affairs of Slater Ellison, based in Broad Street.
A spokesman for the Law Society said: "We intervened to close down Slater Ellison on December 19 for the reasons that solicitors, Robert Christopher Lyon and Richard Peter Rose, were both adjudged bankrupt. We have intervened in the public interest."
Manchester legal firm Davis Blank Furniss have been appointed by the Law Society to supervise the winding down of Slater Ellison and dealing with contract clients.
The Law Society said that Mr Bryan Slater, who had been associated with the Bury solicitors for many years, had been a partner in the firm until last July.
