POLICE and council leaders have unveiled a new taxi to drive home a message of community solidarity against crooks.
The branded cab promotes BurySafe, a scheme launched last year to tackle crime, help residents feel safer and improve the general quality of life in the borough.
It brings together the emergency services, local authority, probation service and the courts, along with local housing and racial equality groups.
The taxi was unveiled by Chief Superintendent Janette McCormick, Bury divisional commander, and Bury Council Chief Executive Mark Sanders.
Ch Supt McCormick said: "We are maintaining the lowest levels of crime ever recorded in Bury and to push that level down further is a hard task.
"We know from recent cases like the Watchman, the conman who was caught following information received from the local community, that we can work effectively to reduce those levels further still."
