A YOUTH club in Blackrod has re-opened following a £50,000 revamp.
Blackrod Youth Club in Manchester Road, was allocated the cash from Bolton Council Youth Services last year after years of neglect.
The grant went towards replacing the roof of the building, which had been leaking for some time, and new flooring and windows.
The club was also redecorated and painted inside and outside.
Glenn Carr, who has managed the centre for 12 years, said the cash was a welcome boost - and the largest amount of money they have ever received.
"It looks really good. It's top notch now.
"It's going to be a vast improvement for the young people who use the club," he said. Mr Carr is now hoping that more young people will be attracted to the rejuvenated youth club.
"We are hoping to get more members so we can start to operate more educational and health programmes and put on more activities during the holidays."
He added: "It's great news for the area and it will help us continue the good work we are doing."
Town Councillor Isabel Seddon said: "It's had a real revamp and this is very good news for the young people in the town."
Volunteers worked over the weekend to get all the equipment, including computers, furniture, televisions and the club's pool table, back into the club in time for its re-opening on Monday.
An official opening ceremony with a special guest is being planned.
