I AM concerned about the possible closure of the accident and emergency department at Fairfield General Hospital.
It is an absolute disgrace if it closes. A lot of people will suffer or even die. It will be too far to the nearest hospitals and people don't even know where they are or how to get to them - some people are not even fit to travel.
What about the amount of cars going to these hospitals, will there be enough parking spaces? I very much doubt it and there will be massive parking problems.
Waiting time for treatment at Fairfield is 3-4 hours, how long would it be at the next nearest hospital? Probably double that time because there will be twice as many people - it's crazy.
How can that be an improvement? Who makes these decisions? Certainly not someone who cares about people.
Bury General should not have closed. What about the rest of Fairfield Hospital? A lot of money has been spent there - all wasted? I hope myself and my family don't need to go to accident and emergency. It's a disgrace, don't shut it.
