I FEAR the question is not how long will it take for the no-smoking ban to bed in at Fairfield (Letters, January 12), but will there be any beds at Fairfield open long enough for this to take place?
How long before the Strategic Health Authority and Bury Primary Care Trust manage to close the doors on Fairfield altogether? The new proposals for future services across Greater Manchester include the closure of both Bury and Rochdale maternity and childrens overnight services, with the threat of removal of A&E services at Fairifeld to follow at a later date. How long after that before all services have been withdrawn and the hospital closes its doors for good? The people of Bury need to make their voices heard NOW to Greater Manchester SHA, Bury PCT and each of our strangely silent Bury MPs before April 16.
It will be too late after this date as this is the end of the consultation period.
We are holding a public meeting at Bury Town Hall on Tuesday February 7 at 7pm to continue our fight to keep Fairfield open. Please attend.
