Re your recent correspondence concerning the Worsley accountancy company receiving £35,000 from the National Lottery to encourage its employees to participate in sport and physical activity.
My club, Darcy Lever Cricket Club, has attempted to obtain lottery funding to build much-needed changing facilities at our community-based club, which provides young and old people and schools with the opportunity to participate in cricket and rounders.
Sport England decided that the funding of approximately £60,000 would not be provided, and we had to accept the reasoning and attempt to raise funds from other sources.
The decision to award this grant is a slap in the face to my organisation - and, I would suggest, many others who have been turned down for much-needed support, but now see it given to private companies who have the funds to provide these facilities for their employees.
Once again, Sport England, you are losing touch with the grass roots of sport.
