LEIGH boss Andy Nelson was left fuming after he claimed an inept refereeing display had cost his side the chance of at least a point.

The Railwaymen, ravaged by injury, suspension and the loss of two loan players, had restricted Droyslden to a couple of long range efforts, when five minutes from half-time an offside decision went against them which resulted in a goal.

"He wasn't just offside he was miles offside," complained Nelson. "It was one of the worst refereeing performances I have witnessed.

"It was heartbreaking because the lads worked so well and to suffer the loss of a goal in those circumstances was hard to take."

Nelson played a defensive line-up to try to counter his loss of players and although Leigh went two goals down shortly after the break Ryan McDowall celebrated a return after a long injury lay-off with a goal.

RMI pushed everything forward trying to get the equaliser and twice hit the woodwork, only for Droylsden to break away and grab a couple of late goals.
