WANDERERS new goalkeeper Ali Al -Habsi was a virtual spectator as the Reserves completed an impressive victory over Newcastle on Monday night.
Two goals in three minutes from Academy striker Johann Smith helped Jimmy Phillips' side to their biggest win of the season, and Brad Hill was also on target as Bolton's young side scored three times after the break.
Al-Habsi was well protected by his back-four in his first game for the club following his arrival from Lyn Oslo. The Oman international was not tested until Bolton had secured the points but did well to ensure a clean sheet as he saved smartly from Carl Finnigan and then Daryl Smylie to round off an excellent night's work.
Bolton: Al-Habsi, Hill, Jamieson, Cassidy, Ellis, Fojut, Thompson, Whitehead, Smith (Augustyn 90), Buval, Stott. Subs not used: Charlesworth, Kazimerczak, Roddy, Powell.
