NEW signing Phil Edwards is ready to make history with Accrington Stanley.
The full back completed his move from Premiership side Wigan Athletic at the end of last week, signing a two-year deal after impressing during his three-month loan spell at the Interlink Express Stadium.
And being on the verge of helping the Reds regain their Football League status was one of the key factors in Edwards' decision to drop down four divisions - a move which he insists he has no qualms about.
"It's a brand new start for me now and I'm delighted to have signed for Stanley," said the 20-year-old, who made his Reds debut in the memorable LDV Vans Trophy game at Rotherham in October last year.
"We've made some great strides since then and we want to get up into League Two as quickly as we can.
"My opportunities were limited at Wigan so I'm glad I've been given the chance here.
"I'm a young lad who just wants to play football, and I'm enjoying playing at the moment.
"The lads are great and it's given me the chance to play first team football."
After securing his Stanley deal, right back Edwards' aim now is to win the Conference championship.
"It's a while since the club was in the Football League and we want to get back there," he added.
