ON behalf of the pupils and parents of Top o'th' Brow School, I should like to thank the Bolton Museum for displaying the 'Gene Pool' project materials.
It provided the opportunity to showcase to the town the exciting work of the pupils and parents. They have been inquiring into 'their family trees', 'where they came from', 'their aspirations' and the benefits of collaboration'.
Through the excellent efforts of Les Elvin, community arts worker; Jaqui Wallace, Museum outreach worker and co-ordinator of Local Treasures Per Cent for Art, and the school staff, pupils and parents have worked together, shown a desire to learn, and pride in what they have produced.
The project has provided a springboard for future parental involvement and pupil/parent collaboration.
It demonstrates that communities can work, learn and achieve together, and have fun.
