THREE Bolton cinemas are among a score of Lancashire cinemas which are up for sale. A number of inquiries concerning them have already been made, among which has been one from a light engineering firm and another from a Spiritualist church. All the cinemas are centrally heated and telephones are already installed in the offices. 'You can have a cinema for about the price of a semi-detached house,' Mr. Bernard Woolley, who is selling them, told a Bolton Evening News reporter today.

National newspapers have this week been filled with stories of players becoming hooked on the video game, sometimes stealing to feed the habit. In one case, it was claimed that an 18-years-old needed psychiatric treatment to help him 'kick' the craze. But in down-to-earth Bolton, 'Invaders' fans reckon that's a load of rubbish.
PEOPLE in Westhoughton 'couldn't care less' about the community group's campaign to win a parish council for the town. That is the controversial view of local councillor Geoffrey Smith, who told the Bolton Evening News: 'If the people of Westhoughton really want a parish council, then make no mistake, I will join in the fight for it. But the question has to be asked do they really want parish status? My own opinion is that the vast majority of Westhoughton residents couldn't care less.'
