HEALTH bosses in Bolton are introducing plans to keep older people in the borough healthier.
The three year plan is aiming to promote the health and well-being of older people and will see health bosses working with other bodies, such as the council, to make it possible.
Key areas that will be introduced in the first 12 months include work around increasing the amount of physical activity people take, supporting the development of Bolton's Ageing Well programme and expanding the age awareness training to all health and social care staff.
The plans are some of the first of their kind in the country and has been formed after health bosses spoke directly to older people to discover what their man health concerns were.
Around one in six people, 45,400, people were of pensionable age according to the last census, carried out in 2001, and there are approximately 18,600 people over 75 living in the borough an extra 3,600 people compared to 20 years ago.
