POLICE blocked a road with squad cars to stop a drug user escaping mobile patrols which were chasing him, a court heard.
Jamie Hopkins, aged 30, of Broadoak, Bury, admitted driving without due care, driving without documents and being in possession of heroin at Bury Magistrates Court. Jacqueline Stott, prosecuting, said police saw Hopkins in a car and had started to follow him.
But Hopkins refused to stop and sped down Topping Fold Road.
He drove towards a police van which had to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision. Police then parked a car across the road and he was forced to stop. Hopkins was arrested and a search of his home revealed a class A drug and drugs paraphernalia.
Hopkins, who was granted bail, will be sentenced on January 26.
