THE driver of a car which killed a mother of two after mounting a pavement in Kearsley has been interviewed by traffic officers.
The 20-year-old man was questioned while he was in hospital being treated for minor injuries. He is now recovering at home and will be quizzed again at a later date.
Ellen Newman, aged 46, of Market Street, Stoneclough, was walking along Stoneclough Road last Thursday when the Ford Fiesta careered out of control, mounted the pavement and knocked her down. The car smashed into a tree and Ms Newman was pronounced dead on arrival at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
She left behind two children and three grandchildren.
