AMIR Khan faces a second fight in a month after being named on the undercard of the Danny Williams and Matt Skelton Commonwealth heavyweight title showdown.

It means a return to the Excel Arena in London's Docklands for Khan, who won his last fight against Daniel Thorpe in impressive fashion last month at the same venue.

The Bolton teenager is in action, against an opponent yet to be named, at Nottingham Arena on Saturday, January 28, and will again be in the ring in the capital on Saturday, February 25.

The winner of Williams-Skelton could fight Russia's WBA champion Nikolay Valuev.

Williams defends his Commonwealth crown but Skelton's British title will not be at stake.

Promoter Frank Warren said: "It's virtually a world title eliminator. I'm talking to Don King and believe we can make a fight with one of his guys.

"I'd like Valuev. But there's nothing around that would faze Danny or Matt."

Williams, 32, is currently banned from fighting for the British title because of his late withdrawal from a scheduled clash with Skelton in Bolton last July, but Warren said he will attempt to persuade the British Boxing Board of Control to reverse its decision.

Meanwhile Khan's stablemate Jamie Moore has been forced to temporarily shelve plans to fight in the US.

The Walkden boxer was due to fly out to Connecticut this week to fight Colombian Juan Carlos Candelo, but a scheduling mix-up has forced his promoter Steve Wood to look closer to home.

Moore will now fight in London before rescheduling the Candelo fight for late February or March.

Moore said: "We were waiting for a response from the US promoter, but he was on the other side of the country and didn't get back to our emails.

"I'm always a bit cautious with this type of thing, so I said we'd better arrange another fight.

"The promoter has now given us the choice of a couple of other dates, so we are working on that now.

The 27-year-old, who trains at Olivers Gym in Salford with Khan, last fought in September with a four-round victory over David Walker.
